Well, this thing had been running in my mind for several weeks now, especially with the entry of my juniors. I understand they are much elder than me, thus with more experience since they taught in schools before. They are from tamil schools and this is the reason for all the problems.
One thing I want to clarify here, Indians don't only consist of tamilians, but also telugu's malyalam's and etc! What more in my college, we also have punjabi's. The thing I don't understand here is, why do everyone have this conception where, Indian is tamil! Why? I just can't get this. Indian is a race! Not a mother tongue. Please don't mix mother tongue, religion and race! They are all different thing all together.
You can be in the same race but different mother tongue and religion and same goes to you can be in the same religion but with different mother tongue and race. I hope people will understand this and respect others. Just because they are from the minority group of the tree of Indians please don't seclude them. I am in a college where, I am in the minority of the minority!
We are celebrating poggal in campus the coming Thursday. All this while I was thinking ponggal is celebrated for all the Indian community. Only now I understand that, ponggal is actually for the tamilians. Please don't get me wrong here, it's very sad that people don't understand that I celebrate Sankranthi, and the sikh's celebrate Lohri. Which is ponggal itself! So, what's wrong in playing and dancing for hindi songs? There is no sense of respect for others who are in the society! Sometimes, it's very disappointing with how things are. Nevertheless, what can I do? Lecturers themselves are in these school of thought.

i absolutely agree with you! Indians are not Tamils! but Tamils are also Indians, just like our sisters and brothers who are Telugu, Malayalee, Tulu, Kannadiga, Punjabi, Sindhi, Marathi, Marwadhi etc etc etc ;)
We also need to remember that we are Malaysians, and above all citizens of the world..
i think the problem of Indians=Tamils maybe because Tamils make up the majority 'Indian' population in Msia thus, there is always this problem of the 'Majority' Vs 'Minority' LOL it exist in many countries throughout the world and thats SAD! everyone need some enlightenment and knowledge! (normally the Majorities need the most!) LOL :D
